Bangkok’s Unique Attraction
For a colourful backdrop for all the social programmes of the 1st session of the Ad Hoc Codex Intergovernmental Task Force on Processing and Handling of Quick Frozen Foods, on a less formal note, participants will be spoilt for choice. Dining and shopping experiences can range from the street-side eateries and vendors to the ultra-sleek restaurants and shopping malls. In a nutshell, there is always something for every one. That is the fun of being in Bangkok!
Shopping Around
Pra-tu-nam (means Water Gate) Market
An open air market, mostly offers wholesale and retail sale clothing. Wholesale makes buyers pay less for individual item; it may require minimum purchasing of 3 up to 6 goods items.
Platinum Fashion Mall
A relatively new shopping centre on Ptchaburi Road carries wholesale clothing, selling a similar range of clothing to the Pra-tu-nam Market, but in air conditioned comfort. There are 6 floors filled with small outlets.
Cha-Tu-Chak Market
The huge open air market available on weekends owns about 35 acres of land covering over 15,000 stalls. It is one of the biggest, most famous shopping places in the world. Wearing comfortable shoes, light T-shirt with shorts and having sunlight shades (ex. a cap, sunglasses, an umbrella etc.) are highly recommended for shoppers. Keep fit and hydrated, go check it out!
Siam Paragon
The Siam Paragon opened its doors in December 2005. It is quite literally enormous. Suitable for travelers who enjoy spending on luxurious goods, high quality merchandise including their uptown prices!
Siam Square
Small area located on the other side of the road where the Paragon is, offers variety of shops and restaurants. You can find the Hard Rock Café and CM2 disco here.
MBK
Mah-boon-krong (MBK) is 6 floors of little shops that sell assorted goods. Everything can be bought here at fairly good prices. It is pretty busy at the weekends. The food court inside caters pretty much exotic food to try on.
Suan Loom Night Bazaar
This place occupies good quality entertainment, food stalls, and almost everything you could want from visiting Thailand. The bazaar starts bustling at 6 p.m. to midnight.
